Investors Financial Group began with our President, Mike Lee, in 1993. Although he wanted to establish a successful company, he insisted that it be based on integrity and honesty. It was essential that he be able to provide value to both the customer and the agent. Twenty years later, he has accomplished that goal and continues to strive to make his business both lucrative and rewarding for both the client and the agents he employs.
The Early Years
Mike initially focused on health insurance. After several years of declined applications as well as challenging leads, Mike became discouraged. Fortunately, Mike soon found an opportunity to provide payroll deduction plans through Colorado Bankers Life. This venture proved to be very lucrative and allowed him to experience the rewards of incentive trips. Mike felt like he had found a home.
Mike initially worked his business from his single wide trailer on a family farm in Johnston County, North Carolina. Mike lived in that trailer with his wife, two children and his mother-in-law. As you can imagine, his work space was limited. This situation allowed Mike to understand the challenges of building a business with limited space and income. He decided, regardless of the challenges ahead, that he would do all that was necessary to change his situation.
During the mid 1990's, a close friend asked Mike to travel with him to Virginia to learn more about a new product. After much hesitation, Mike took the friend up on his offer. The product seemed very impressive. It was at this point that he chose to add Mortgage Protection to his portfolio. After submitting nearly $200,000.00 worth of annualized premium in his first year, Mike decided to build a team to help others achieve success in their own lives.
Expanding
After the success of establishing himself as a major player in the market, Mike realized he needed more room than his cramped trailer provided. After investigating the options available in the small community of Dunn, North Carolina he was able to move his agency into a small business center and he began doing business as Lee and Associates.
By the year 2000, the agency out grew his new office and Mike moved his agency again. This time he found a nice location in Dunn Commerce Park. The area was large enough to continue expansion. During that very successful year, Lee and Associates decided to establish a lead company and leased the office space adjacent to their current offices.
In 2003, Lee and Associates expanded yet again and became incorporated. This, decided Mike, called for a name change and we became known as Investors Financial Group, Inc. In the spring of 2004, IFG launched its new subsidiary corporation for the lead company, Allied Mailing Systems. Through the focused efforts of Mike Lee, the staff and agents, IFG grew rapidly throughout North and South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, California, Illinois, Tennessee, Texas, Nevada and Florida.
Regrouping and Coming Out on Top
When the housing market crashed and the mortgage bubble burst, so did the goals of IFG to build itself on mortgage protection. Mike, being purpose driven and highly motivated, decided that he would need to move his agency in a new direction if he wanted to recognize continued success. So he did just that. Mike began rebuilding his business model. One year later, Mike entered into the military sector doing business for our military and first responders. Being prior military himself, this not only provided Mike and his agency an impressive income but also gave him a sense of well-being. He was enjoying great success and his agency was again expanding. However, while working with our military he discovered an even bigger need in the final expense market. Determined to meet that need, he shifted his focus to the senior market. The only problem he encountered was that he actually ENJOYED supporting our nations finest. Being the problem solver that Mike is, he found a way to work with his existing product line and still meet the needs of our area. This was a win-win situation for everyone involved. He now enjoys helping our seniors while also being able to support our military with an exceptional product line.
Through his hard work and dedication, he is not only able to provide for his family, his employees and the seniors in our area but he is also able to support our military and first responders by offering one of the finest final expense products. He continues to feel blessed to be able to give back to those that sacrifice so much for our great nation.
